TDN World Desk: In a latest development, the family of the couple who were arrested on Sunday over alleged link to ISIS, said that they were framed for being Kashmiri Muslims, reported Hindustan Times.

The family of the couple expressed utter shock to their police-arrest.

“We are shocked. They are being framed just because they are Kashmiri Muslims. They are career oriented people and have a very clean record. They had no interest in the Kashmir issue and the CAA is out of question. Why would they instigate other people?,” asked Sami’s sister Sehrish Sami,quoted Hindustan Times.

Jahanzaib Sami Wani, and his wife, Hina Bashir Beg, both 36, were arrested on March 8. Delhi Police’s special cell announced that they have arrested the couple. They were living in a rented flat in Okhla Vihar, Jamia Nagar. They were booked for having links with the Islamic State’s Khorasan Province module, the police alleged, and were also involved in instigating protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.The Police also claimed to have recovered objectionable materials from them.

As per family members account, Wani was an IT professional in a UK-based company. The company had ts office in Srinagar. But, after the internet-ban imposed on the valley Wani had to shift to Delhi following company instruction. “At that time, he was living in accommodation provided by his company. The company accommodation was also in Okhla”,
Sehrish Sami, the sister of Wani was quoted by Scroll.in.

Questioning Delhi police’s claim of having found objectionable materials, Sami said, “My brother and sister-in-law are very religious.
They are observant Muslims. They read religious books and the Quran. How is that incriminating material? Is reading religious literature a crime?”

As reported by Kashmir Observer, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday confirmed the news outlet that the man arrested alleged for IS links have no past record of militancy.
