TDN World Desk: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and the former four times Chief Minister of UP on Thursday came out in support of Muslim assistant professor in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Feroze Khan.
Taking to twitterr, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said the appointment of Mr. Khan, “a suitable and learned Muslim Sanskrit scholar,” as a teacher in the BHU would be considered as giving the proper patronage to talent.
“In this regard, nobody should be allowed do anything which is demoralising [for Mr. Khan]. It will be better if the government pays immediate and proper attention to it,” she added.
It is to be noted that, in an untoward manner the language wing of RSS, Sanskrit Bharti stood by the Muslim proffesor. Dev Pujari from Sanskrit Bharti said the protest is meaningless.
Talking to News 18 Dev Pujari said, “It is absurd that the BHU students are protesting against a Muslim teaching Sanskrit in their university. I don’t know what are the fundamentals of BHU and on what grounds are the students protesting, but I know that Sanskrit is for all.”
